The Zipp Tangente is the first tire developed in the wind tunnel. Zipp used their patented ABLC dimples to mitigate the round shape at the wheel's leading edge. According to Zipp's wind tunnel testing, the tire's dimples will save 1-3 watts, or up to 9 seconds over 40km.
Zipp partnered with Vittoria to develop the Tangente's durable yet supple 290tpi casing. Because the dimpled pattern resists cracking, they were able to use an exclusive an extra-light rubber compound for low rolling resistance and high cornering grip in wet and dry conditions.
NOTE: Don't worry that the Tangente is called an "Open Tubular;" it's a clincher tire that uses a tube.
