Wheelbuilder can custom hand build your Zipp Firecrest 303, 404 or 808 dream wheels for road racing, triathlon, time trials or any cycling discipline.

Zipp's wind tunnel testing confirms that widening the Firecrest rim and changing the sidewall's curvature profile improves aerodynamics, ride quality and stiffness. Without giving up the proven benefits of the toroidal shape, the wider rim shape moves the center of pressure closer to the rider, providing more stable, predictable handling than rims of equal or even shallower depth.

In both tubular and clincher versions, the wider Firecrest design better protects tires and places more rubber on the road while cornering without adding rolling resistance. A wider rim offers greater vertical compliance for control and comfort on rough surfaces while increasing lateral stiffness for sprinting and cornering.

Zipp's solution to heat buildup on carbon clincher brake surfaces during heavy braking is the integration of a heat-resistant resin based on materials used in Formula 1 brakes. Available exclusively to Zipp, this new technology resists heat for more consistent braking performance and tire pressure on long descents. This technology improves heat dissipation so substantially that Firecrest is the only carbon clincher to pass stringent European safety testing without limitations on rider weight or brake pad options.
