Continental's Competition tubular tire uses Vectran flat-protection and Black Chili compound.

One layer of the cut-resistant Vectran under the tire's tread reduces weight, improves rolling comfort and reduces rolling resistance.

The Black Chili compound uses smaller carbon particles, which have more contact points for less rolling resistance to help smooth out the road surface. The smaller particles also fit closer together for longer tread life.
