Alchemy ORC Rear Road Hub

The Alchemy ORC rear hub is the companion to the ELF (Extra Light Front) front road hub. The ORC is designed with wide spaced flanges and a larger center right dimension, which produces a stiffer and stronger wheel, while maintaining good non-drive side tension.

Spacing flanges further apart increases the stiffness and strength of a wheel, but there's a tipping point where the non-drive side tension becomes too low to maintain tension during the low-tension cycle that occurs while riding the wheel. Alchemy solved this problem by moving the ORC's right flange further right to increase the right bracing angle, the flange width and the non-drive side spoke tension to optimize the strength and performance of the built wheel.

Other design features include a large drive side flange, which reduces stress on the spokes (from pulling force) and increases the efficiency of torque transfer; a large axle (17mm end diameter; 20mm center diameter); a freehub attached to both the hub shell and axle; and a 36-point engagement drive ring.

The ORC is available for both Shimano and Campagnolo and is compatible with 11-speed cassettes.
