Wheelbuilder.com presents our 142mm x 12mm conversion axle to adapt your PowerTap MTB hub to fit the latest X-12 frame standard used by Specalized, Trek and others. We optimized both bending stiffness and weight via finite element analysis of the complete PowerTap torque tube and bearing system. The result is a precision aircraft alloy axle that varies diameter to meet the high bending loads exerted by MTB racing, while keeping weight to an absolute minimum. Additionally, we designed our axles to allow users to switch between the 142mm x 12mm and 135-QR standards by simply changing optional end caps.
Installation of the new axle must be performed at Wheelbuilder due to the special drive bearing that has to be carefully pressed into the torque tube. The 142mm x 12mm conversion kit comes standard with all parts and labor included, with the optional 135mm end cap sold separately.
